四、征稿背景:
本特刊旨在为快速发展的“研究的研究”(或称“元研究”)领域作出贡献。我们采用包容性的“研究”定义,涵盖了不同的知识领域、部门、世界观、认知实践、方法和方法论。本特刊结合理论探讨、实证证据和政策视角,深入探讨塑造全球研究生态系统的五个基本且相互关联的维度:研究人员发展、研究合作、研究评估、研究增值和研究文化。
研究人员发展探讨对研究人员的支持、培养和发展、研究人员面临的挑战及其在研究生态系统中的角色。研究合作分析跨学科、跨机构和跨国界的合作努力的动态、成果与挑战。研究评估对当代评估框架和方法进行批判性审视,探讨评估系统如何塑造研究文化、战略优先事项、资源配置决策及职业发展轨迹。研究增值探讨促进知识交流与转移、推动创新和最大化社会影响的机制。研究文化探讨研究实践和研究人员社区塑造的环境、关系、共享价值观、精神风貌和规范的概念化、建构和动态,及其与研究治理、评估、伦理、以及公平性、多样性和包容性议程的互动。
这五个主题对各种研究体系和利益相关者具有重要意义。对其与理论、实践和政策交汇的考察与讨论,有助于提升对“研究的研究”作为一个研究领域的理解,促进不同背景和知识领域之间的对话,并推动研究体系和环境的积极变化。
总体而言,本特刊中的文章还涉及贯穿元研究领域的交叉主题:研究体系中的持续结构性不平等、研究价值和贡献的多面性,以及元研究学术的新兴方向。通过这一整合性分析,本特刊不仅记录了当前的研究格局,还为提升全球研究的公平性、多样性、影响力和质量描绘了潜在的路径。
征文主题包括但不限于:

This Special Issue contributes to the rapidly evolving field of Research on Research (or, Meta-Research). We employ an inclusive understanding of ‘research’ across domains of knowledge, sectors, worldviews and epistemic practices, and approaches and methodologies. Integrating theoretical explorations, empirical evidence, and policy perspectives, this collection delves into five fundamental and interrelated dimensions that shape the global research ecosystem: Researcher Development, Research Cooperation, Research Evaluation, Research Valorisation, and Research Culture.
Researcher Development investigates the support, cultivation and development of researchers, the challenges researchers face, and their roles in research ecosystems. Research Cooperation analyses the dynamics, outcomes, and challenges of collaborative endeavours, spanning disciplinary boundaries, institutional frameworks, and national borders. Research Evaluation provides a critical examination of contemporary assessment frameworks and methodologies, and discusses how evaluation systems shape research cultures, strategic priorities, resource allocation decisions, and career trajectories. Research Valorisation explores the mechanisms that facilitate knowledge exchange and transfer, drive innovation, and maximise social impact. Research Culture explores the conceptualisations, constructions and dynamics of the environment, relationships, shared values, ethos, and norms that shape research practices and researchers’ communities, and explores its interactions with research governance, evaluation, ethics, and equity, diversity and inclusivity (EDI) agenda.
These five themes are of significance for various research systems and stakeholders. Examinations and discussions of their intersections with theory, practice and policy are also meaningful in improving understandings of research on research as a field of inquiry, fostering dialogues across different contexts and knowledge domains, and enable practices to contribute to positive changes in research systems and environments.
Collectively, articles in this Special Issue also address cross-cutting themes that resonate throughout the meta-research field: persistent structural inequalities in research systems, the multifaceted nature of research value and contribution, and emerging directions in meta-research scholarship. Through this integrated analysis, the Special Issue not only documents the current landscape but also charts potential pathways for enhancing the equity, diversity, impact, and quality of global research.

王传毅:清华大学副教授。教育部-清华大学教育战略决策与国家规划研究中心副主任、清华大学研究生教育战略研究基地副主任,国家重大人才计划青年学者;主要致力于研究生教育、高等教育评价等领域的研究,主持国家社会科学基金(教育学)重点项目、国家发改委社会领域重大委托项目,兼任中国教育发展战略学会教育政策与规划专业委员会副理事长, 《学位研究生教育》首届青年编委会主任,European Journal of Education, Higher Education Policy等6本SSCI期刊执编、编委或客座编辑。
Chuan Yi Wang: Associate Professor at Tsinghua University. Deputy Director of the Ministry of Education-Tsinghua University Center for Strategic Research in Education and National Planning, and Deputy Director of the Tsinghua University Graduate Education Strategy Research Base. A Young Scholar under the National Major Talent Program. His research focuses primarily on graduate education and higher education evaluation. He has led key projects funded by the National Social Science Foundation (Education) and major commissioned projects by the National Development and Reform Commission. He also serves as the Vice Chairman of the Education Policy and Planning Committee of the China Education Development Strategy Society and as the inaugural Chair of the Youth Editorial Board of Degree and Graduate Education. Additionally, he is an editor, editorial board member, or guest editor for six SSCI journals, including European Journal of Education and Higher Education Policy.
许心:牛津大学教育系讲师,Fellow of Higher Education Academy。SKOPE (Skills, Knowledge and Organisational Performance) 研究中心副主任,全球高等教育研究中心(CGHE)顾问委员会成员。她主要致力于高等教育和元研究 (Research on Research) 等领域的研究,主持或参与英国经济与社会研究委员会(ESRC)等资助的多项研究课题,是Handbook of Meta-Research (《元研究手册》)和Changing Higher Education in East Asia (《东亚高等教育变革》)的联合主编,兼任Higher Education 期刊书评编辑,International Journal of Education Research等多个SSCI期刊编委或客座编辑。
Xin Xu: Lecturer in the Department of Education at the University of Oxford and a Fellow of the Higher Education Academy. She serves as Deputy Director of SKOPE (Skills, Knowledge and Organisational Performance) Research Centre and as a member of the Advisory Board of the Centre for Global Higher Education (CGHE). Her research primarily focuses on higher education and meta-research (research on research). She has led or participated in several research projects funded by the UK Economic and Social Research Council (ESRC). Xin Xu is a co-editor of the Handbook of Meta-Research and Changing Higher Education in East Asia. She also serves as the Book Review Editor for the journal Higher Education and as an editorial board member or guest editor for several SSCI journals, including the International Journal of Education Research.
Alis Oancea:牛津大学教育系教授,Fellow of Higher Education Academy、Fellow of the Academy of Social Sciences。英国科研评估框架(REF)的科研多样性资源委员会主席,欧洲多个国家科研项目评估的主席,全球高等教育研究中心(CGHE)副主任。她主要致力于教育研究哲学,高等教育、科研评价等领域的研究,主持ESRC/CGHE国际元(Research on Research)研究等多项课题,是Handbook of Meta-Research(《元研究手册》)的联合主编,兼任Routledge Open Research (Education)首席顾问,Oxford Review of Education, Review of Education等多个SSCI的编委。
Alis Oancea: Professor in the Department of Education at the University of Oxford, Fellow of Higher Education Academy、Fellow of the Academy of Social Sciences.Chair of the Research Diversity Resources Panel for the UK Research Excellence Framework (REF), Chair for the evaluation of research projects in multiple European countries, and Deputy Director of the Centre for Global Higher Education (CGHE). Her research focuses on the philosophy of educational research, higher education, and research evaluation. She has led multiple projects, including the ESRC/CGHE international meta-research (Research on Research) study. She is a co-editor of the Handbook of Meta-Research and serves as Chief Advisor for Routledge Open Research (Education) as well as an editorial board member for several SSCI journals, including the Oxford Review of Education and the Review of Education.

Interested authors should send a proposal to Dr. Chuanyi Wang by 30 Januaray 2025(email: wcy1985@tsinghua.edu.cn). The proposal must include 1) a title; 2) a 500-word abstract; 3) each author’s information, including the name, contact information, affiliation, and a 100-word bio.
